Pups in Training
We have worked in the agricultural and pastoral industries for over 25 years. In that time we have seen many Working Kelpie Dogs. Some good, some great and some not so great. To achieve success in the breeding program consistency is the key to producing reliable, dependable all round dogs that are easy to train and work in both the paddock and yard. The Hawkesbury Working Kelpies fit the bill for your needs.
Promoting the Working Kelpie
We promote the working Kelpie by way of working dog demonstrations. Anthony had his Kelpie team at the 2011 Sydney Royal Easter Show. This was a big hit with show-goers with up to 600 people attending each demonstration. The feedback was positive. Anthony also demonstrates his Kelpies at local shows and field days.
Training Pups
Here are some videos of our young pups working stock. These pups are typical of the quality of dogs we are producing at Hawkesbury Kelpes. Call us for more information on our dogs.
Ame
Sire:
Backenbark Buck III
Dam:
Ballysheehan Nell
Description:
Ame at just 5 months old is working effectively in the yard. She has been part of our working kelpie displays since the age of 3 months. Ame has tons of natural ability and has an eye for her stock. If the sheep break into two mobs she keeps an eye on all of the sheep and works them back together. It is a pleasure to watch such as young pup work so effectively. Ame was sired by one of our dogs (Buck). Many of Bucks pups demonstrate similar working ability… Calmness, but quick, nice footwork, confident and with great walk-up strength. We believe Ame will become a future Dam in our Stud.
Libby
DOB: Nov 2011
Description:
Libby is 8 weeks old when this video was taken. She has demonstrated this type of enthusiasm for working sheep from 5 weeks of age. Libby is very bold and alert and is showing some eye and walk up strength, which is unusual at this age. Libbys' future at Hawkesbury Kelpie Stud is very promising. We will update the Website with her progressions as time goes by.
Why does the video stop/start all the time? This is caused by a slow internet connection. The video plays at a faster rate than the speed of the download to your computer. The only solution is to start the video and wait for the video to fully download. Once it has downloaded you can then play the video again (without the stop/start problem) by clicking on the play button.
